I've always been quite interested in magic and illusion, and observing peoples curiosity about how a trick is done. Tv Lava lamp is an illusion - an optical installation in real time. With no beginning and no end, once turned on the work simply bubbles away and playfully transcends between with the boundaries of the two tv monitors.
When viewed in the context of a gallery the work implies that it is a complicated set-up relying on a synchronised technical pre recording playing in tandem which is perfectly possible - in reality if people think to look... just behind is a shop bought lava lamp with 2 small cctv cameras which create a live feed directly to the monitors.
