> FOREST PIN HOLES
I created this series of long exposure pin hole photographs by bastardising my old SLR camera with a home made pin hole lens and positioning it on a tripod in the woods. I spent I lot of time roaming around in the forest’s during a residency at Eilean Shona in Scotland in 2024. I was captivated by the flickering beams of light that broke through the dense canopy and made the carpet of moss glisten.

I liked the softness and lack of information that the shonky pin hole lens created, nearer matching the feeling of being in the forest at sunrise, or dusk, or near darkness. These works present the light from a brief passing of time as an image without the distraction of high definition or technical detail. The blurred shadows and ambiguous forms that catch the eye become mysterious, and in their lack of information leave a space for imagination.
These works are currently digital files - but they will soon be printed and framed.
Pin-hole photographs made on Eilean Shona during March 2024.
